What is Land Development?

Land development is the physical alteration of the earth for the purpose off constructing new buildings, driveways, roads, parking lots, walls, walkways, recreational fields, open space areas, stormwater management systems, and associated utilities required to use any building.

Land development involves a wide range of activities. It can involve projects that are residential, industrial, or commercial. Part of the land development activities includes water supply, sewer systems, and all other utilities needed to operate the buildings or buildings.

All development projects have a land development plan which indicates what is necessary to construct the site work for development and shows the building footprint. Site work typically includes driveways, parking, walls, stormwater systems, and the grading of the site. The site plan shows the location of the proposed building or buildings.
